Get That Summer Glow- FOTD 5/10/13

NaturalSummerLook

This is a very natural look that gives you that nice glow without looking oily- ick!   The base of my look today is BareMinerals.  I did use the matte formula for the base, but then went over all the high points on my face with the original.  For the eyes I used a mix of what was left over from my foundation and a little bit of Natural Light (also from the BareMinerals line).  The contour shade is ERA from MAC.  Notice I’m using more satin colors, not so much shimmer. As far as liner goes you can omit this step, but it really helps boost your eyes without looking like you have done anything- just tightline (line the upper waterline) with a black khol liner and then apply a nude liner to the bottom water line. I used Rimmel Scandaleyes for this step, been loving that stuff. Mascara is again LashBlast. Bronzer is Physician’s Formula in Bronze/Rose, I only used the bronze portion and then swept it across anywhere the sun would naturally hit.  For blush I actually used a matte color called Girl Friday from Everyday Minerals, this helped to keep my face from being too plastic looking, because yes, you CAN use too much shimmer.  And last but definitely not least is Covergirl’s jumbo gloss balm in Haute Pink Twist or #220.

Thanks again for stopping by and as always put your best face fleurward,

FOTD 5/9/13- Love me some NEON!

NeonEyes

If you love wearing bright colors- especially several at once, this is a fun look to try.  AND it’s all really inexpensive products! All of the eye colors you can find in either a BH Cosmetics pallet, or a coastal scents pallet.  You know the ones, they have around a “gazillion” colors to choose from so I’m not going to try and tell you what ones I used as they are not named. Just choose a close match or change them out for colors you prefer.  With these brands you will need to use a base, preferably a white one.  I used the Color Tattoo in 05 Too Cool.  The silver liquid liner as well as the black are from Physician’s Formula (one of my favorite brands).  The lashes are E.L.F., and I hate to say that I’m not a big fan.  They were only a couple dollars so I thought I would try them….never again.  They are uncomfortable and some of the most difficult lashes I have ever applied, mind you it’s obviously possible and they look fine once you have them on- so long as you like the “plastic-y” look.  The water line is Rimmel Scandaleyes Liner in 008 Light Blue and the whole color line of these pencils are amazing.  Mascara is CoverGirl LashBlast in Very Black.  I have been on break from this mascara for a few months trying to find another I could love.  I have given in and gone back. Can’t live without the stuff.

Thanks for stopping by,

FOTD 2/23/13

CollageThis is a really bright and fun look.  It was inspired by the floral tank I am wearing.  This was a bit time consuming, as are all looks with a lot of colors due to the amount of blending that is needed to make it look cohesive. It is, however, fairly easy with the right brushes.  I did all of this with really small brushes, for reference- the real techniques accent brush would be amazing for this look. I used two different pallets today, both from Urban Decay because sometimes you just need a little sparkle in your life.

The basics of what you will need:

Shadows- Green, Silvery Green/Blue, Blue, Bright Pink, White, Cream, and a black.

(If you want the actual colors I used from the pallets, they are as fallows- Mildew, Money, Haight, Infamous, Polyester Bride, Maui Wowie, and Oil Slick. Those are in the same order of the colors listed above.)

Black liner, I used liquid, but you can sub it out for gel or even a pencil if you don’t like the preciseness of liquid.

Black khol liner

Mascara

For lips I just used a balm with a little gloss over the top, no need to have my whole face crazy.

And I just added a little pink to the apples of my cheeks.

(Because I feel that you can do most any look with alternative products, I don’t list the brands of most things unless I feel that they are truly important to the look.  With that said, if you have any questions about anything else I used, I will be glad to answer them.)

There is a video tutorial for this, the link will be posted as soon as it is up.

Today’s look was created with the iDivine Sunset pallet.  It is a great pallet with a lot of options.  The colors are very vibrant and ultra pigmented.

Why we love cranberries…

While cranberries have a wealth of benefits for your entire body, here are some reasons to use them for your skin-

-They are chock-full of antioxidants that help fight free radicals.  In case you were wondering, free radicals cause oxidization in your skin which causes slow cell turnover- basically aging you sooner than you’d like.

-There have also been studies supporting that cranberries can help to heal acne.  Resveratrol, one of the amazing antioxidants in the delightful little berries was said to be the reason for this.

-Cranberry oil is a really light, non-greasy oil and has omega 3,6, and 9. These fatty acids are absorbed into the skin much easier than most oils which makes cranberry oil a great moisturizer and may also help with inflammation and irritation.

-They are DELICIOUS!  Which is a huge deciding factor in why we love cranberries so very much.  From Sauce to juice, you can’t go wrong with including cranberries in your diet or even mashing them up and putting them in your weekly mask.

Aside

Hello Fleur Fans!  You already apply sunscreen daily, but did you know you can eat your way to beautiful singe free skin?  By eating fruits and veggies rich in Carotenoids like sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, carrots, (most orange produce), you can help protect your delicate skin from the sun’s harmful rays.  These Carotenoids actually help to diffuse the sun’s rays and lessen the dammage to your most beautiful organ. Add them to your summer salad or morning smoothie. Your skin will thank you!
